Jinisha’s Story #findyourinnerwarrior

Meet the 25 year old Bollywood dancing queen and amateur baker, Jinisha (also known as @hrithikroshans future wife). Her recipe to being a good dancer and choreographer includes 20 grams of confidence, 30 grams of perseverance, 50 grams of consistency and a generous sprinkle of passion and love. Jinisha’s love for dance started when she was very young and used to watch Bollywood movies with her family; this was not only something that bonded all the generations in her household but also kept her rooted with her culture. She loved the songs and especially loved to watch @madhuridixitnene dance. When she was a little girl, she started to learn how to dance a classical form of Indian dancing called Kathak. However, after accidentally leaving her coat at primary school and happening upon an after school dance class, her true passion for Bollywood dancing began. Through this she got to experience performing in many weddings, theatre, and several other public shows and events. Even though she was performing in a group she would still get so nervous about making a mistake but she still loved performing each time, so she kept on going.

Throughout these years, Jinisha's interest in Bollywood dance began to naturally grow even more and she started following pages like @batra_naina and @toor.manpreet and gained more knowledge into different dance styles, expressions and dance techniques, and even now these are dancers she really looks up to.

In 2018 Jinisha’s cousin decided to get married in India and she was asked to choreograph and teach not 1, not 2 but 10 dances! Not to mention that this was the first time Jinisha had properly choreographed a dance performance for an event this big. However, Jinisha loved the challenge and looked forward to rehearsals every week. When they got to India she was so nervous before the dance started that she even ended up putting on half her outfit on backwards but after the performance had finished everyone asked for an encore and complimented her on how amazing it was. This was when she realised she had a true passion and talent for not only dancing but also choreography.

After months of contemplating whether she should start something of her own, it was only during a trip to Amsterdam later that same year, where she filmed herself dancing solo in public, she then set up her own YouTube channel and created her dance page for Instagram too: @jinishadance. Her page has grown from strength to strength and Jinisha emphasised that she is so incredibly grateful to her supporters as she has not only been blessed to meet like-minded people but to learn from them too. Through this her confidence has also grown and the one piece of advice she’d give to someone thinking about dancing whether it be just for fun or for a page like this is "don’t be afraid to mess up", just get back up and try again (and also no one can tell if you ever mess up anyway).

“Dance has always been there for me. If I’m happy I’ll dance, if I’m sad I’ll dance.” It’s not only helped her physical fitness but has also greatly improved her mental wellbeing as well. Jinisha is proof that if you have a passion: pursue it with good intentions, be your own no.1 fan by having faith in yourself and never give up on something that brings you genuine joy in your life, which you can then share this happiness with others too.
