Ankara fabric is probably one of the most famous types of African fabrics due to their colourful, geometric patterns and motifs. The patterns are usually created through a fabric wax resist dyeing technique called Batik where the dye reaches the cloth apart from the areas with the wax. The front and back side of the fabric is determined by the intensity of the colour. It became very popular in West Africa however this traditional fabric spread all across Africa. Askari has put its own spin on the Ankara patterns and woven 2 patterns together to create an interesting, contemporary print.
